You might be coming to New Zealand for a holiday, but if you want to work while you are here, you need to be prepared for an interview. Here are a few tips:
- For women: invest in a nice jacket and smart pair of shoes (or be extra smart and bring them with you when you come to New Zealand). For men: bring a suit or tailored shirts and trousers.
- Dress conservatively when meeting a recruiter (no low cut tops, very short skirts, jeans with rips, singlet tops or jandals).
- If you have long hair, tie it back. Women, keep makeup natural and light.
- If you have facial piercings and you want to work in an office, consider taking the piercings out before the interview.
- Cover tattoos.
It might seem silly when you are thinking about short-term temporary work, but first impressions are important, and if it’s office work you are looking to do, you need to look the part.
