While you are on your Working Holiday Visa, you can…
[yes_list]
- Study/train for no longer than six months (in total).
- Work here. Be careful, you could have a limited duration for each of your contracts depending on the country you’re from. Look at the list below for further information.
- You can come and go from New Zealand whenever you want within the duration of your visa. [/yes_list]
You can’t accept a permanent role. Depending your nationality, you will be able to work for up to 3, 6, 12 or 23 months for the same employer.
You can’t work more than 3 months for the same employer if you are from…
- Brazil
- Croatia
- Denmark
- Estonia
- Hungary, Hong Kong SAR
- Israel, Italy
- Latvia, Luxembourg
- Malta, Mexico
- Peru, Philippines, Poland, Portugal
- Slovenia, Spain
- Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey
- Vietnam
You can’t work more than 6 months for the same employer if you are from…
- Chile, China
- Lithuania
- Slovakia
If your country isn’t included in these two lists, it means you can work as long as you want for the same employer (until your visa expires, so up to 6, 12 or 23 months).
Be careful, this duration is cumulative: for example, if your visa doesn’t enable you to work more than 3 months for the same employer in total, it means you can’t work for the same employer 3 months at the beginning of your visa and 3 months at the end of your visa.
